Benbro Hosts Masters of Engineering Students

Australian universities commonly require final year students enrolled for a Masters degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering to complete a 12-week internship working closely with qualified engineers outside the university.

Benbro is an enthusiastic supporter of these programs.  In recent times we have hosted electronics and electrical engineering students from UTS, Macquarie, Western Sydney and Sydney universities.

The tasks the students undertake and learn during their internship include:

  • PCB assembly
  • Component testing
  • EPROM programming
  • Electronic design
  • Preparation of bills of materials
  • PCB layout
  • Safety and electromagnetic compliance requirements
  • Final product assembly
  • Electrical and electronic performance testing of finished products.

We have had very positive feedback from both the universities and the students who value the real-life, practical experiences that complement their more theoretical studies.

A typical comment came from Xinhong (Sam) Yang who wrote “ I really thank you for taking me as an intern in Benbro for 3 months.  I learned a lot from doing the internship here.  I am really grateful to be a member of Benbro during this period”.

It’s feedback like this that makes Benbro glad to have played a small part in the training of Australia’s future engineers.
